TURTLE RESCUE<\/strong><\/p>

The Caretta caretta is the most common sea turtle in the Mediterranean Sea, and one of the species most affected by the marine litter. Turtle Rescue Centres are engaged in the first aid of sea turtles together with the fishermen. They provide these species, both ancient and delicate, with the necessary care to guarantee their health.
COMMON project will involve the Mediterranean Turtles Rescue Centres (TRCs) in order to engage them in marine litter monitoring and disposal.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

FISH SPECIES<\/strong><\/p>

Mullet, sardines, mussels and bogues: four Mediterranean species affected by the marine litter. They live in the Mediterranean Sea and can provide valuable information on its health. These are the sentinel species that will end up under the lenses of scientists to evaluate the presence and the impact of marine litter on biodiversity.
COMMON will start sampling activities and carry out ecotoxicological investigations in the four species (ingestions of plastic, contaminants, biomarkers) to assess their impact on biodiversity and develop effective strategies to preserve it.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

CLEAN UP THE MED<\/strong><\/p>\nClean up the Med<\/strong> is an important international campaign to clean up beaches and natural sites. It involves 21 Mediterranean countries by coordinating institutions, schools, volunteers, citizens and local civil societies in order to clean up the coasts and natural reserves from litter of any sort generated by wrong human activities.\n

BEACH LITTER<\/strong><\/p>\n

Help us map the presence of waste on the beaches. Read the form, follow the protocol and fill in the results online. Provide data collection that is affecting many other Mediterranean beaches. Knowing the type of waste funded on the beach is the first step to identify the causes of marine litter.<\/p>\n
