This morning, at the gymnasium of the “Civinini” Comprehensive Institute of Albinia, the ceremony for the delivery of the certificates of merit and the prizes awarded by the COMMON project took place as part of the Contest “We are all Med – Schools vs Marine Litter” aimed at making schools aware of the problems associated with coastal pollution and proper waste management.
First classified for the pilot area Maremma, of contest that involved schools in Tunisia and Lebanon, were the students of classes 2A and 2B of the secondary school of Albinia who in the last school year and in full pandemic created information posters and videos on the topic of plastic pollution and good practices to reduce its use and recovery.
The project carried out by the students was selected as it is able to effectively synthesize the principles on which to be based in order to adopt an eco-sustainable lifestyle, with particular reference to the mitigation of plastic contamination, one of the main threats to biodiversity.
The school was awarded the “We are all Med – Schools vs Marine Litter” certificate, while the students were given T-shirts with an image specially designed by the artist Giuseppe Palumbo, cartoonist of Diabolik. A collector’s item to reward the excellent work done and symbolically unite the “young” Mediterranean people.
Present were the representatives of Legambiente and contact persons for the Common project, Valentina Mazzarelli and Melania Farnese, the head teacher Prof. Roberta Capitini, the professor Chiara De Santis promoter of the school project and the students who carried out it.
